Let us begin this adventure by introducing an excerpt from the Book "Onward Christian Soldiers" found in chapter 15 called The Evolutionist Party.
My name is Charles Joseph Wilson, and many people, after my demise, may call me the "The Evolutionist", because the time has come for change here in the United States of America. I believe it is about time to form a new Progressive political party here in the United States we shall now call the "Evolutionist Party", even though there was originally an Evolutionist Party in Portugal formed in the year of 1912. It merged with the Republican Union Party after the presidential election of Antonio Jose de Almeida in1919 to become the Republican Liberal Party, which itself lasted till 1923 with very good success for awhile, but things were pretty unsettled back in those days, (much as they are today in the 21st century) as evidenced by the overthrow of the Monarchy on the 5th of October, 1910, when the First Republic was intensely anti-clerical. Historian Stanley Payne points out, "The majority of Republicans took the position that Catholicism was the number one enemy of individualist middle-class radicalism and must be completely broken as a source of influence in Portugal." This is somewhat similar to what is happening in this country of ours today, only with polar opposition flipped that was as drastical then: "Under the leadership of Afonso Costa, the Minister of Justice, the revolution immediately targeted the Catholic Church; the provisional government began devoting its entire attention to an anti-religious policy, in spite of the disastrous economic situation. On 8th of October the religious orders in Portugal were expelled, and their property was confiscated. On 10 October – five days after the inauguration of the Republic – the new government decreed that all convents, monasteries, and religious orders were to be suppressed. All residents of religious institutions were expelled and their goods were confiscated. The Jesuits were forced to forfeit their Portuguese citizenship. A series of anti-Catholic laws and decrees followed each other in rapid succession. On 3 November, a law legalizing divorce was passed and then there were laws to recognize the legitimacy of children born outside wedlock, authorize cremation, secularize cemeteries, suppress religious teaching in the schools and prohibit the wearing of the cassock. In addition, the ringing of church bells to signal times of worship was subjected to certain restraints, and the public celebration of religious feasts was suppressed. The government also interfered in the running of seminaries, reserving the right to appoint professors and determine curricula. This whole series of laws authored by Afonso Costa culminated in the law of Separation of Church and State, which was passed on 20 April 1911.", quoted from, "wikipedia.org/wiki/First Portuguese Republic". This is but an example from the past, that there was just as much radicalism more then a hundred years ago as there is now, and a great part of our population does not like the idea of our present "Separation of Church and State", and have infiltrated the very halls of our Democracy and influenced past presidents for many, many years to change this. Perhaps this time around, the idea of Evolution through Truth and Equality will again help bring about change, and will be as or even more important as it was then long ago.
I quote this reference not as an example to explicitly follow, nor does the author share the extremism that a nation under suppression may indulge when feeling threatened by forces that wish to dictate their beliefs above all others, but to show the radicalism that religion can exert when the past does not want to change in any way, or allow citizens and their children to even have control over their own body or status in life.
We are not given to know the future with any certainty, but we know the past, and the abundant evidence of the corruption in morality witnessed in our lifetimes by the very pillars of religion who profess to emulate goodness, but really seek power to influence politics and end the Separation of Church and State. If the youth of this nation want to control their own future, then they must evolve from this past and accept the change that is inherent in their wellbeing, because this is the present that has been thrust upon us: January 6, 2021, another day that will live in infamy, has abundantly shown the nefarious activities of our sitting president Donald John Trump and his enabling Republican party. With the many people killed during the unprecedented attack on our sacred halls of Congress by Trump's faithful followers, who were egged on by the President himself and his faithful lawyer Rudy Giuliani in front of the White House, there comes a time to restore sanity and change in our political system. Let it be known: we cannot be whole without all our parts, and the evils of segregation and bigotry must end. People who think they have the right to bear arms and cause destruction, mayhem, and chaos on others without their consent, have no place in a peaceful and cooperative society. The future will be witness to the damage that was done on this day. There is a monumental effort on part of our society in the United States, that lives in the past and is intolerant of any change towards a more egalitarian society, and only wants to enforce its own ideas and values over others, by calling for the freedom of self determination that they won't give others, and encouraging the bearing of arms to enforce it. America knows these people for they live all around us, and the great majority are associated with the Christian Evangelical self proclaimed "White Nationalists", where their leaders use profane denunciations of most liberal progressive ideas and inclusive values, and do not abide any deviation of their Christian values, or acceptance of any others except AIPAC and the Zionists of Israel, in which politics are being bought to defeat Progressive candidates to office using the pathetic excuse of Anti-Semitism as a cover-up to disguise their mission. The very halls of our Congress are even being wasted with a vote that equates Anti-Semitism as Anti-Zionism which is not one and the same. If this continues and is successful, there will be no future for those in the United States that are marginalized because of the color of their skin, liberal emancipation, or self identify, who don't conform to Christian ideals. Conservatives are heavily influencing U.S. politics and a foreign policy that idealizes the increased weaponization of national defense with their idea of Democracy. If the future is to be more just and inclusive, than equality must rule the day and lies that distort the truth must end. CJW
